The following resources are created to support the mental health and emotional wellbeing of children and young people:

National

Anxiety UK – a charity for those affected by anxiety, stress, anxiety-based depression or a phobia that is affecting everyday life of young people. Anxiety UK provides services for a fee of £150 for therapy and resources. Anxiety UK provide the following services for young people and children: Access to specialist email and helpline

Every Mind Matters – is an online resource created by Public Health England hat gives simple and practical advice to get a healthier mind and get more out of life. Every Mind Matters provides support with how to deal with stress and anxiety, boosting your mood or sleeping better developed by experts approved by the NHS.

The Mix – a free and confidential service for young people aged 13 to 25 to support them with embarrassing problems, weird questions, and please-don’t-make-me-say-it-out-loud thoughts. The Mix allows young people to choose how they want to access support and has multiple services including:

NHS Mood Zone – NHS Moodzone is an online resource that provides practical advice for young people and children who may be feeling anxious, depressed or just want to feel happier. NHS Moodzone has interactive tools, videos and audio guides to support young people dealing with mental health issues. Sane – SANE is a leading UK mental health charity that offers support to people aged 16 and over affected by mental illness. SANE provides emotional support in the form of:

Shout 85258 – is a free, confidential, 24/7 messaging support service run by trained volunteers to listen and support anyone who is struggling with:

Shout 85258 not only provides a messaging support service but also provides online resources such as videos on breathing exercises to help with anxiety and tips for mindfulness.

One Space – is an online support service provided by Shout, The Mix and Young Minds for people under the age of 25. It is a simple user journey for young people seeking support for mental health during Covid-19 and its aftermath. Services include:

Go Far in a Jar – This will help you reach the recommendation of 60 minutes daily whether you are currently learning at home or at school. You will also be able to take part in a wellness activity to help support your mental health too.

Ask Helpline (text 80800 to talk) – ASK Helpline is a free confidential text service for 14 – 25 year olds in County Durham. ASK Helpline has a comprehensive internal and external referral network to help young people get support by qualified youth worker.
