Workforce Development

County Durham Sport is committed to increasing the number of trained and qualified people involved in the organisation and delivery of sport in County Durham.

We are now able to offer coaches and volunteers the opportunity to improve their level of qualification or gain new qualifications.  As well as offering funding for NGB qualifications (including officiating), coaches and volunteers actively involved in sport across County Durham may also access generic courses such as First Aid and Safeguarding and Protecting Children.

Coaches and volunteers will be able to receive between 50 and 100% of the cost of any training providing that they meet eligibility criteria. In order to access this funding, a coach or volunteer must agree to complete a minimum of 10 hours voluntary coaching following completion of the Award. A £50 deposit will be required for all coaching courses; this will be refunded on completion of the 10 hours voluntary coaching.
