COUNTY DURHAM SPORT SEEKS NEW TRUSTEES
County Durham Sport (CDS) is seeking to recruit new independent volunteer trustees who share our passion about the power and positive impact that sport and physical activity can have in improving people’s lives and the communities in which they live.
Committed to developing an inclusive Board and company which truly reflects our diverse community, we would especially welcome applications from people who are disabled, from black and minority ethnic communities, who identify as LGBTQ or who come from areas of social or economic disadvantage in the County.
To complement existing skills, knowledge and experience, we are also, but not exclusively seeking new Trustees with relevant experience of Public Health, Marketing or Secondary Education.
CDS - part of the national network of 43 County Sports Partnerships - is an independent local charity, currently undergoing a process of transformation, including revised strategic position and executive team and Trustee appointments.
Our mission is: “To use evidence, insight and partnerships to understand and address inactivity.”
Our vision is: “Everyone - able to improve the quality of their life through involvement in sport and physical activity.”
Contributing to Sport England’s strategy, “Towards and Active Nation” and Active Durham’s strategic framework, we believe that participating in sport and being physical activity isn’t simply a matter of individual motivation or choice, but that inherent structural inequalities also impact upon the choices that people have available. We are committed, therefore, to playing an influential role in the strategic planning, co-ordination and delivery of high quality sport and physical activity by:
- supporting, influencing and improving the local “delivery system”
- engaging and understanding local people and communities, to understand people’s needs, behaviours and motivations
- brokering dialogue and partnerships between sport and non-sport partners, and
- inspiring people to get active and stay active
If you would like to discuss the role informally, please contact Ian Gardiner, Executive Director on 07860 503996 or email Ian at firstname.lastname@example.org.
