Whole Sport Plan

Sport England funds national governing bodies to deliver their three outcomes - grow, sustain and excel and provides additional support to help them achieve this. Each sport has developed a Whole Sport Plan that explains how it plans to achieve these targets. This summary also helps partners identify possible opportunities to work together.

Sport factsheets

In June 2008, Sport England published sport factsheets which highlight detailed results from Active People Survey 4 for each of Sport England's NGB 09-13 funded sports and include demographic breakdowns, regional breakdowns and frequency of participation data, providing insight into the profile of sports participants.

Masters of Rugby League

Rugby League Masters is available to anyone over the age of 35 years who wants to play a modified version of rugby league, designed to be a bit kinder on "older bones".

Players fall into 4 age categories:

White & black short players tend to tackle each other as normal.

Red short players have to hold or be held two handed & stop momentum.

Gold short players have to tag or be tagged for a tackle to be called.

Teams do not keep score as this is purely socially focused with rule number 1 being you must buy your opposite number a pint after the game.

Training sessions will run from Sunday 31 January 2010 at 10.30am at Lukes Lane playing fields in Hebburn. Everyone is welcome to come along to training.

The North East Masters team will be hosting a 4 team tournament at Peterlee Pumas RLFC Helford Road ground on Sunday 21 March.

For further information please call John Gray, RFL North East Development Officer on 0191 4335713 or email john.gray@rfl.uk.com.

Play Touch Rugby League - Why work out when you can play?

We think there's a better way to get fit and active, burn calories, build muscle tone and have fun with your friends without having to be a member of a gym.

Touch Rugby League is a fast, skilful and action packed team sport played in a fun and social atmosphere, without any of the tackling you see in a traditional game of Rugby League.

Play it your way. If you prefer to play indoors or outdoors, want to mix up the teams with boys and girls, play just for fun or want a more competitive game that's fine. We run a variety of different sessions so there's bound to be one that suits you whether you are new to the sport or a seasoned pro

What are you waiting for? Come along as an individual, bring a group of your friends or work mates and join in the fun!

Touch Rugby League sessions are now taking place across Durham.
