South Moor Ladies Golf Sessions

Play Ladies Golf

A Durham golf club is launching a new drive aimed at female golfers.

The free coaching scheme will provide an opportunity for ladies and girls to give the sport a try.

The five-week introductory programme is being organised by South Moor Golf Club, based at The Middles, Craghead, Stanley.

The weekly coaching sessions will take place each Thursday (6.00pm-7.00pm), starting on 2 June.

The club, formed in 1923, hope the new initiative will encourage more ladies to join and is offering a number of incentives to encourage them.

The coaching programme includes:

For anyone interested in taking their golf further, the club is offering

Jonathan Ward, county development officer for the Durham County Golf Partnership, says: "This is a great opportunity for any ladies who might have wanted to try golf, but didn't know how to go about it.

"South Moor is a very welcoming club and the fact that there is no need to spend money on lessons or equipment is a great way to get a taste of a fun sport which will help you get fit, meet new friends and enjoy the outdoors."

The Durham County Golf Partnership is a collaboration of a number of stakeholders in the sport including the English Golf Union, The English Women's Golf Association, the PGA, the Golf Foundation and Sport England.

In Durham the partnership is supported by the Durham Ladies County Golf Association, the Durham Union of Golf Clubs and the Durham PGA.
