London 2012 Open Weekend: Be part of it!

The London 2012 Open Weekend supported by BP will take place on 23-25 July 2010.

This is the annual countdown celebration to the opening of the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games on 27 July 2012.

Now in its third year, Open Weekend has already enabled more than a million people to take part in sport, arts and cultural events across the length and breadth of the UK. As part of the four year Cultural Olympiad programme, Open Weekend is one of several projects aimed at adding excitement leading up to the 2012 Games and helping to create a lasting legacy.

This year, local authorities, sporting and cultural organisations, as well as venues across the UK, are invited to set a challenge that will open up opportunities for the public to try something new or take an existing interest to the next level.

By being part of Open Weekend you will be part of the national '2 years to go!' countdown celebrations. You will also:

For Open Weekend 2010, organisations are asked to set a challenge that the public can participate in. The challenge could be to create a new piece of art in 24 hours, organise a treasure hunt or stage a mass aerobics session; it can be free or fee paying; one, two or three days - it's entirely up to you!
