Jayenell Gymnastics Celebrate a weekend of success in the region

Jayenell, Newton Aycliffe based Gymnastics Club competed in the North of England NDP Regional Championships last weekend held at Temple Park Leisure Centre, South Shields and certainly came out flying the flag for the North East.

Saturday's gymnasts Samantha Robson & Gabby Welsh competed in the pairs group acrobatic grade 1 alongside an outstanding 21 pairs and although did not get through to the final 3, they walked away with a fantastic score

Sunday's gymnasts Gabby Welsh, Andrew Vincent and Nicole Ward all competed in the tumbling section and what a day of emotions.

Nicole Ward, a student of Greenfield Comprehensive competed in her very first competition and although Nicole did not qualify for top 3 she did the club extremely proud for her very first competition.

Andrew Vincent, a student of Woodham Technology College walked away from the competition with Silver, a fantastic achievement and a fantastic moment to watch.

Gabby Welsh also a student of Woodham Community Technology College stunned the club with walking away with Gold beating 14 other competitors and becoming the North of England NDP Champion of 2011 in her section of National 1 Girls Tumbling 13+ which takes Gabby and Jayenell Gymnastics to Fenton Manor, Stoke on Trent in May to compete in the National Finals.

Gabby is representing the North East and this is the first time in Jayenell history that a gymnast has qualified for the Nationals. All her fellow gymnasts, coaches and proud mum wish her all the luck for this excting event.
