Dance Champions Survey
On Thursday 15 October 2009 the Department of Health launched the Dance Champions Group. The group, which comprises of a number of well known faces from dance, along with a handful of stakeholders, exists to champion dance in all its forms and to lend support to a range of existing initiatives.
Through this championing of dance the group hopes to act as a catalyst to support the integration of current dance activities and opportunities into easily accessible platforms.
The Dance Champions Group will deliver a series of ‘Celebration Events’ across England that will be FREE to participants and will cover the widest possible range of dance styles. The group will link these events into current dance initiatives and use them as a catalyst to signpost into regular movement and dance opportunities.
In order to successfully create a legacy from these events, the Dance Champions Group will need to work and consult with deliverers of movement and dance to identify opportunities that are currently being delivered and feed into them, where relevant/necessary.
The Dance Champions Group has provided a public facing website www.dancechampions.org.uk that will become an easy to access directory of dance opportunities, enabling those that wish to Dance to find the places and the people who can help them to take their first steps. The effectiveness of this resource will again be reliant on partnership working between the Dance Champions Group and movement and dance related networks.
You can help the Dance Champions by completing a short online survey that will start the communications and information gathering process. The information gathered will be used to inform the collection of data for the website and to engage with relevant partners in the delivery of regional events. This will also start to give a clearer picture of the scale and range of dance provision in England across Sports, Arts and Physical Activity.
The survey can be found online at www.dancechampions.emdp.org
