Congratulations to County Durham awards winners
Two recent awards ceremonies have seen accolades handed out to people from County Durham.
At the BBC North East & Cumbria Awards at Sunderland's CitySpace on Wednesday 19 January 2011, Barry Hudson and Martin Tyler from Durham Amateur Rowing Club were awarded Sporting Inspiration and Rachel Davies from Deerness Valley Gymnastics Club was awarded Young Sports Person of the Year.

The Northern Echo Local Heroes Awards took place on Thursday 13 January 2011, delayed from its original date due to bad weather, at Hardwick Hall, Sedgefield. Alexandra Richardson from Deerness Valley Gymnastics Club won the Award for Most Promising New Talent, with Cestria Galaxy U15s Girls Football Team scooping the Award for Team of the Year.
