Applications open for England Netball Young Leaders' Camp
Following the success of the first three Young Leaders' Camps, held annually since 2008, England Netball are again working with UK Athletics and Gymnastics England to offer one hundred and fifty 16-19 year olds the opportunity to attend a four day residential camp, where they will get the chance to develop their leadership and volunteering skills alongside likeminded individuals.
The event has grown to be an integral part of the youth volunteering and leadership programme, with 140 netball leaders having benefitted from the experience over the last three years.
What is the Leaders Camp?
The camp returns to Bradfield College in Berkshire, and will run from Sunday 14 August - Wednesday 17 August 2011. Whilst at the camp, the young people will focus upon the development of leadership skills through sport, whilst participating in a range of practical and theory based sessions.
The event will be run by professional staff from the three sports, with a programme that offers a range of workshops including club management, personal development planning, activity leadership, officiating, coaching & event management. There will also be time built in for relaxation and evening social activities, coordinated by trained staff.
England Netball is offering 50 of the most dedicated young volunteers from across the country the opportunity to attend the Camp completely FREE of charge (including all accommodation, workshops and meals). Attendees are required to transport themselves to the camp, however there may be the opportunity to share transport with others. If it is felt appropriate, Clubs, Schools, Colleges or County Associations can make a contribution towards travelling costs.
Who will be attending?
To be eligible, the leaders need to meet the following criteria:
- 16-19 years old at the time of the camp
- Actively volunteering in netball within a club, school or community setting
- Enthusiastic, motivated and committed to developing their skills and experience
Unfortunately, to ensure the maximum impact of the event, we are unable to accept applications from those people who have previously attended the camp.
What Next?
Young people need to complete an application form at http://www.englandnetball.co.uk/youth/Young_Leaders_Camp by Wednesday 4 May. Applicants will be notified of their success by Friday 27 May.
