60 Young People Qualify for Regional Finals at County Durham Disability Athletics
The annual Durham County Disability Athletics Event took place on Tuesday 27 April 2010 at Shildon Athletics Track. Over 100 secondary aged young people from across the 6 School Sport Partnerships took part. They were invited to try any of the events on offer including sprints, long distance runs, throws and jumps as well as wheelchair events including club, slalom and grip ball.
The mass participation event doubles as a qualifier for the DSE Regional Athletics Finals and if a young person reaches the relevant distance/time for their disability they would be invited to compete at the next level. 60 young people from across the County accomplished the relevant time/distance and will go on to compete at Regionals at Gateshead Stadium on the 19 May 2010 with the chance of qualifying for the National Finals.
