2011

Affordable Community Swimming Pools
Sport England has published guidance on new swimming pool projects, with a focus on affordability and future financial sustainability. It includes a range of indicative designs for 25 metre pools with details of capital and operational costs and guidance on procurement. It shows how a new pool can be delivered more efficiently and how it can be operated on a break even basis.

Asset Transfer Toolkit
This toolkit has been commissioned by Sport England and produced by Locality's Asset Transfer Unit. This toolkit should be the first point of information on asset transfer from a sports perspective for National Governing Bodies, County Sports Partnerships, community and voluntary sector groups (including community sports organisations), local authorities and other sport partners. This toolkit provides information, resources and case studies that will be of use for anyone contemplating asset transfer in a sports context.

Developing the Right Sports Hall
In conjunction with the main sports hall NGBs, Sport England has developed a simple methodology to assist with the planning of a new sports hall projects and ensure the correct specification of hall to meet NGB requirements for different sports. It recommends an increase in the basic 4 court hall size from 33 x 18m to 34.5 x 20m, and illustrates the additional flexibility provided by a 5 court hall (40.6 x 21.35m). A separate document provides indicative programming and business models for these two sizes of hall.

Building Health: Creating and enhancing places for healthy, active lives
This report looks at improving the design and management of buildings, public spaces and places in ways that can improve public heatlh through encouraging regular physical activity.

Synthetic Turf Pitch User Survey: Summary and Key Findings
Sport England and sportscotland undertook a survey of the use of STP facilities in 2005 and this summary provides the main findings.

2006

Synthetic Turf Pitch Study: Full Report
Sport England and sportscotland commissioned a survey of pitch users and operators in 2005 to provide information on the use of and demand for various types of STPs, to provide better information for planning and provision of STPs at national, regional and local level and to provide information to allow the project partners to calibrate their facility planning models for STPs.

Active Design: Promoting opportunities for sport and physical activity through good design
Sport England's Active Design provides easy-to-use guidance and information to town-planners, architechts and urban designers on how to put sport and opportunities to get active at the heart of new housing and community developments, both public and private.

2003

Condition and refurbishment of public sector sports facilities: Update of 1995 study
The study is an update of a study first carried out in 1995 and relates to capital expenditure on the existing stock of sports centres owned by local authorities in England and built after 1900.

2001

Survey of Indoor Tennis Facilities in Areas of Best Supply (2001)
