The Fund was established to aid research into learning disability and to aid the care and relief of those affected by learning disability by making grants to voluntary organisations working in this field.

Applications will only be considered from voluntary groups which are registered charities or are associated with a registered charity. Funding is considered for capital and revenue costs and to contribute to specific project and general running and core costs.

Grants should normally be taken up within one year of the issue of the grant offer letter, which will include conditions relating to the release of the grant. Grants are normally one-off awards but exceptionally a new pilot project may be funded over 2 to 3 years subject to satisfactory reports of progress.

Grants start from £250 and occasionally go up to £150,000.
